Hi, I’m Kennedy Roy — a sports creative who loves telling stories through video.
My love for sports started when I was five years old with a T-ball bat in my hands. From there, I played and tried just about everything — baseball, soccer, basketball, and you name it I was there. Although I never ended up becoming a collegiate athlete, being around sports was always something I loved. Eventually, I realized I could still be part of the sports world by helping tell the stories happening around it.
While earning my undergraduate degree at Troy University, I got my first real opportunity to do that as an ESPN+ color commentator. Being in the broadcast booth taught me a lot about storytelling, but it also made me realize how much I enjoyed the creative side of sports. I wanted to be more involved in the moments themselves, not just talk about them. That led me behind the camera, where I found a way to combine my love for sports with my interest in video and visual storytelling.
After graduating from Troy, I was fortunate enough to join Southern Miss Athletics as a Creative Content Graduate Assistant. That experience was a huge part of my growth as a creative. I got to work alongside incredibly talented people, travel with teams, and create content for passionate athletes, coaches, and fan bases. It challenged me creatively and gave me a much better understanding of what it takes to work in sports full-time.
Now, I’m working with the Minnesota Twins as a Video Production/Editing Intern. Getting to work in professional baseball has been an incredible experience, and I’ve been able to continue learning while creating videos that capture everything from big moments on the field to the amazing outreach the Twins are a part of off the field.
At the end of the day, I just love finding a good story and figuring out how to bring it to life through video. Whether it’s the excitement of a big win, the emotion behind an athlete’s journey, or a moment that might otherwise go unnoticed, I want my work to make people feel like they were there.
